It has been a busy time! I am once again in the airport, this time coming home from the last Chicago Quilt Festival. Although it was fun going to Chicago, actually Rosemont, the show didn’t grow as it was hoped. The classes were smaller and there were less of them each year. There were few places to eat and stay close to the convention center as well. So, the show is moving to another location next year.
Whenever there is change there will be people who are not happy. I was amazed at the attitude of some show attendees though. They acted rather bitter. With that in mind I am going to address my feelings about change.
Change is something that scares some of us. We get all comfortable going to a certain hotel, eating at a favorite place or being happy with something so close to home. But, change happens. Jobs make us change, marriage, divorce and all kinds of family issues can make us have to change our lives. For some this is very stressful. My heart goes out to you if these changes are happening to you. I am not sure that I like all change myself. I am not happy when the grocery store changes. Makes me crazy for the first few visits. But, I have to deal with it. I don’t go acting like a child, stomping my feet, bringing other people displeasure due to my unhappiness. I deal with it. The grocery store certainly isn’t going to put it back the way it was because of me. Hey, I found out that the world doesn’t spin around me way back when I was a kid. I like to think there are times it does spin around me, but it doesn’t.
There are other kinds of change as well…change of heart, change of life, change of pace. I love it when I change the sheets on my bed because I love sleeping on clean sheets.
So, for those of you who are bitter about the change from Rosemont, I hope you don’t take this the wrong way…but until you put on a happy face you really don’t have to join us next year in Cincinnati. You see, there are some of us that are looking forward to the new adventures we are going to have. Finding new places to stay and exciting things to do in a new town. There are going to be some people who do live close to this location and I hope that they will be as excited to have us as we are to be going there. From what I have heard there are lots of hotels, great places to eat and lots of things to do all around the convention area. This makes me very happy and I can’t wait to explore the new location of the show.
With all that said, Good bye, Rosemont…I enjoyed you. I will miss going to Gibson’s where the best steak salad can be had. I will miss the friends I made there and hope that they will travel now. Really going to miss the jewelry show that was going on at the same time and hope that something wonderful will share the convention center with us. And I do hope that after thinking about it those who are upset now will come to realize this will be a new party in a new place and they should put their big girl panties on and deal with it. I am still looking for a few items in the grocery store that changed all the food around when I was out of town. Adventures on isle 4!
You need to bring your own happy to the party.
