Escape month

Over the years I have had many different retreats. I did Quilt Escapes in Virginia Beach when I had my store, there were Quilt Camps in MI and now I am offering Escapes to SC. This year was the first year where there were two different locations for these Escapes. The first one in the Charleston area and the second in the Myrtle Beach area. Both offer great fun, a kit, food that I cook and friendships. It is wonderful to come to a retreat with a friend, sister or all alone. No matter, you are going to meet some wonderful people. I now do these retreats in large houses with 8 bedrooms.

At the first retreat there was such a different group than I am used to. Even I didn’t know everyone very well. By the end we were very good friends and enjoyed our days together. I hated to see them go. The house is perfect and with a small group there is room for lots of interaction. There were 11 in the house.

The second group was a little larger but still only 14 of us in the house. Being on the ocean in Myrtle Beach makes sewing very relaxing. In this group I knew more of the Escapees. They are like old friends to me. There were a few new faces as well and they fit in like they were made for us. I never know what is going to happen and this time a group of men were in the house next door having a bachelor party. They were on the back porch and we could see them so one of the Escapees invited them over. They came over! Can you imagine the expressions on the faces of those young men when they saw all the sewing machines, fabric bolts, quilts and women in plaid pants and tee shirts? They were so nice and one of them has a mother who is a quilter! He felt right at home. You never know when you are going to meet the son of a quilter.

If you are interested in coming to one of the Escapes next year in February please email me and ask for info. When the info becomes available I will send it to you. If you can’t wait to join in the fun of one of my Escapes you could join me in TX at a retreat put on by some good friends. That retreat will be in a hotel and in April. If you would like info on how to get to that retreat let me know.

My retreats are for my enjoyment as much as yours. I love to cook and don’t get to cook for more than one or two most of the time. This allows me to cook for up to 26 at a time. It cures that need for about a year! When this becomes too much for me I will stop, but right now I am having fun with it, enjoy the people who attend and although there is a great deal of work it is still the most fun I have all year. I would love to have you join me.

This is the last night I get to spend in the huge house on the ocean. I am looking forward to going to my tiny house, my own bed and really can’t wait to catch up on my sleep!

Stay warm out there, Quilters! And watch out, I may be coming to your town!
